แถลงการณ์ร่วมสมาคมนักข่าวนักหนังสือพิมพ์แห่งประเทศไทย (TJA) และสมาคมนักข่าวกัมพูชา (CCJ)

จากกรณีความขัดแย้งระหว่างบริษัท มิสแกรนด์อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซึ่งมีสำนักงานใหญ่ในประเทศไทยกับ บริษัท มิสแกรนด์กัมพูชา เกี่ยวกับการบริหารจัดการกิจกรรมกองประกวดมิสแกรนด์อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล 2024 ในกัมพูชา จนมีการเสนอข่าวข่าวดังกล่าวในสื่อมวลชนบางส่วนในประเทศไทยและมีการวิพากษ์วิจารณ์กันในสื่อสังคมออนไลน์ของทั้ง 2 ประเทศนั้น

สมาคมนักข่าวนักหนังสือพิมพ์แห่งประเทศไทย (TJA) และสมาคมนักข่าวกัมพูชา (CCJ)มีความกังวลต่อกรณีดังกล่าว โดยเกรงว่าอาจจะมีการบานปลายจนเกิดสถานการณ์อันไม่เป็นที่พึงประสงค์และกลายเป็นความขัดแย้งระหว่างประเทศในที่สุด จึงได้มีการประชุมหารือผ่านทางออนไลน์ระหว่างผู้บริหารของทั้ง 2 สมาคม โดยมีความเห็นและข้อเสนอแนะร่วมกันดังต่อไปนี้

1.ความขัดแย้งที่เกิดขึ้น เป็นความขัดแย้งระหว่างบริษัทเอกชนของทั้ง 2 ประเทศ ซึ่งทำธุรกิจร่วมกัน ดังนั้น จึงขอให้บริษัทคู่กรณีพยายามเจรจายุติปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นโดยเร็วเพื่อไม่ให้เกิดความขัดแย้งบานปลายจนกลายเป็นความขัดแย้งระหว่างประเทศ

2.ขอความร่วมมือไปยังสื่อมวลชนสมาชิกทั้งไทยและกัมพูชาให้ช่วยกันนำเสนอข่าวนี้ด้วยความระมัดระวัง โดยคำนึงถึงผลประโยชน์ร่วมกันของประชาชนทั้ง 2 ประเทศและไม่นำเอาความขัดแย้งของบริษัทเอกชน รวมถึงข้อวิพากษ์วิจารณ์ในสื่อสังคมออนไลน์มาขยายผลจนกลายเป็นความขัดแย้งระหว่างประเทศ

3.ขอความร่วมมือจากประชาชนผู้ใช้สื่อออนไลน์ในทั้ง 2 ประเทศให้ใช้วิจารณญาณในการรับข้อมูลข่าวสาร โดยให้เลือกรับข้อมูลข่าวสารจากสื่อมวลชนก่อนที่จะนำข้อมูลไปขยายผลในช่องทางของตนเอง

ผู้แทนของทั้ง 2 สมาคมหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าความขัดแย้งที่เกิดขึ้นจากกรณีดังกล่าว จะสามารถยุติลงได้โดยเร็ว เพื่อลดความเสี่ยงที่จะทำให้สถานการณ์อันไม่พึงประสงค์ที่อาจเกิดผลกระทบต่อความสัมพันธ์อันดีระหว่างไทยและกัมพูชาที่มีมาอย่างช้านาน

Joint Press Statement Between the Thai Journalists Association (TJA) and the Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ)

Regarding the recent tensions between Miss Grand International Public Company Limited, headquartered in Thailand, and Miss Grand Cambodia, which eventually led to the decision to withdraw as co-hosts, some media outlets, particularly on social media, have reported on the event, causing the news to go viral in both countries.

The TJA and the CCJ are highly concerned about the incident. We are worried that the unexpected situation may escalate into a wider conflict.

In an effort to find a solution, the executives of both organizations held a virtual meeting on October 10, 2024, to exchange information about the incident and propose the following suggestions:

1. We urge both private companies to resolve their disputes as quickly as possible to prevent the situation from worsening.

2. We call on the media in both countries to report on the event with greater care. Media outlets should not use the conflicts between the two private companies or social media content about the event for their own gain.

3. We encourage social media users in both countries to exercise discretion when receiving information about the disputes between the two companies, and to consider the consequences before sharing information on their personal social media channels.

The executives of both media organizations sincerely hope that the ongoing disputes between the two private companies will be resolved as quickly as possible to mitigate the risk of unexpected situations that could negatively impact the long-standing relationship between the two countries.
